Nepal cricket team summary
The Nepal national cricket team represents Nepal in international cricket. The team is governed by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), which is an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Nepal has a relatively short cricketing history, having only played their first One Day International (ODI) match in 2018.
Nepal has had some success in the shorter formats of the game, particularly in T20 cricket. They have qualified for the ICC World Twenty20 on four occasions, and have also won the ICC World Cricket League Division Two in 2018. Nepal has produced some talented players, such as Paras Khadka, who has been a stalwart of the national team for many years.
However, the development of cricket in Nepal has been hampered by political turmoil, lack of infrastructure, and financial issues. In 2016, the ICC suspended CAN due to government interference in the board's administration. The suspension was lifted in 2019, but the development of cricket in Nepal remains a work in progress.
